About This Cemetery

The Farband Cemetery in Waterbury is one of two cemeteries established by the Jewish National Workers Alliance (Farband) in the Greater Waterbury area. Located along Stillson Road among the cluster of Jewish cemeteries, this cemetery served the Waterbury chapter of the Farband, whose members were largely working-class Jewish immigrants with Labor Zionist sympathies. While the Farband's Morris cemetery adopted more liberal burial policies over time, the Waterbury location maintained more traditional restrictions. Together, the two Farband cemeteries reflect the breadth of the organization's membership and the evolution of Jewish communal life in Connecticut.
